Solutions — Retailers
Own brand and category supply for pet retailers
A store estate needs a range that works on a planogram, presents consistently across every location, and arrives with documentation that survives an inbound audit. Those are specification decisions, and they are made before the first order rather than after it.
Your situation
A store range is judged on the shelf, not in the sample room
A retailer's range has to do three things at once. It has to occupy its shelf space efficiently, which makes packaging dimensions and hanging method part of the product decision rather than an afterthought. It has to look like one range across every store, which makes colour consistency and packaging convention a specification requirement. And it has to satisfy an inbound audit, which makes the compliance file set part of the delivery rather than a document requested later.
Own brand adds a fourth consideration. When the retailer's name is on the product, a defect is not a supplier problem the retailer can pass on; it is a problem with the retailer's own label. That raises the value of the controls a contract manufacturer applies: documented specifications, in-process inspection, and needle and metal detection on every unit, because those are the failures that reach a customer rather than stopping at a distribution centre.
Seasonal programmes sharpen the timing. A holiday range has a fixed window and cannot slip, so the specification needs to be settled early enough that sampling, production and shipping all fit before the season rather than during it. Read how the production and inspection stages run on the factory page.
What to bring to the first conversation
- The range plan — which categories, how many SKUs, and the shelf space each has to occupy.
- Shelf and hanging requirements — peg, shelf or display carton, with the dimensions that have to be respected.
- Seasonal calendar — the delivery window for any themed range, working back from the selling season.
- Brand assets — logo files, label copy and packaging conventions already used in store.
- Store count and volumes — approximate quantities per line for the first order.
- Audit requirements — the documentation your inbound process or quality team asks for.
How we support it
What a retail range needs from a factory
Four controls that decide whether a range looks deliberate on the shelf and passes at the distribution centre.
Packaging designed around the shelf
Format, dimensions and hanging method are set against your fixture and planogram, so the product occupies its space properly rather than being adapted to it after production.
Range architecture that reads as one range
Size ladders, coordinated colourways and a single packaging convention are planned together, which is what makes a category look bought rather than assembled.
Consistency across every store and order
The signed sample and specification sheet govern the run and every reorder, so a range does not vary between stores or between the first delivery and the replenishment.
Own-brand quality control
IQC to OQC inspection with needle and metal detection on every unit, recorded against the order, which is the control that matters most when the retailer's own name is on the label.
Retail ranges are commonly built across our dog toy, cat toy, best-selling and seasonal lines.
Retail audit
The documents an inbound audit asks for
What a distribution centre or quality team typically requests, and where each item comes from. The applicable set is named on the quotation for the order rather than assembled afterwards.
- Certificate of conformity
- CE marking applied where the destination market requires it, covering the product as specified for the order.
- Chemical safety report
- An SGS SVHC test report covering Substances of Very High Concern, which is the document European retail buyers most often request.
- Quality system certificate
- ISO 9001, covering production and inspection from incoming material through to pre-shipment inspection.
- Material claims
- A TÜV AUSTRIA OK compost HOME certificate where a compostability claim is made, applied only to the material it covers.
- Inspection records
- IQC to OQC inspection results and needle and metal detection records held against the order.
- Shipping documents
- Commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading or airway bill, certificate of origin where applicable, and the compliance file set.
If your inbound process requires a third-party inspection report, tell us at the quotation stage and we will state it on the order. More detail on the inspection chain is on the factory page.
Planning a seasonal programme
Timing-
STEP 01
Settle the range early
The SKU list, packaging format and artwork are agreed well ahead of the season, because a seasonal range has a fixed window and cannot recover lost time.
-
STEP 02
Approve sampling before the window closes
The production sample and specification sheet are signed off with enough time left for bulk production, inspection and shipping to complete before the season opens.
-
STEP 03
Produce and inspect
Bulk runs to the signed sample with in-process inspection and needle and metal detection, then OQC against the order before the cartons are loaded.
-
STEP 04
Ship with the file set
The order ships with the applicable certificates and test reports and the carton marking the channel requires, so the delivery clears inbound without a documentation delay.
Next steps
Sample, quote, catalogue or a direct message
Every route below reaches the team that would quote and run the order. There is no sales desk in between.
Request a sample
Samples are available on several lines. Send the construction, the size and the destination market, and we will confirm what can be sampled and when.
Request a quote
The quotation states the minimum order quantity, the sampling date and the compliance file set that applies to your line. Exact figures are named per line, never as a blanket number.
Request the catalogue
The product catalogue and the procurement guides are sent through the same request form, so that what you receive matches the range and the market you are buying for. There is no direct download link.
Message on WhatsApp
For a short question or a photograph of a reference product, WhatsApp reaches the same team. Messages outside China Standard Time are answered on the next working day.
Send the range plan and the shelf requirement
Tell us the categories, the fixture, the store count and the delivery window. We will say what is achievable in that timeframe and what the minimum is per line.
